Lots of people talk about ‘attraction marketing’. It’s more than a buzz word. If done right, helps you actually attract people to your business. The RIGHT kind of people. Over the next few days, we’re going to demystify Attraction Marketing (and give you the steps you need to be successful). As you’ll soon find out, it doesn’t take any special skill or abilities. Just a willingness to show up consistently and some clarity on who you are and where you’re going.
Demystifying Attraction Marketing
So much of the advice and training out there regarding network marketing revolves around seeing anyone as a potential customer (aka victim). EVERYONE is fair game. Make a list they say. Go waaaay back, they say (What WAS the name of your 2nd grade teacher anyway?). Talk to people in line at the post office. Join the gym, groups, anything. Accost people in the cereal aisle at the grocery store. Have classes, events, parties. Strong arm people into buying from you. Bribe them if you have to.
The problem:
- Most people don’t care what you’re selling and what fantastic thing(s) it can do for them.
- They aren’t looking for your great best-on-the-market-one-of-a-kind-amazement.
- Chances are highly likely that they will be annoyed by your approach.
- AND! It’s probably pretty accurate that you don’t want most of those people on your team anyway!
Stop stalking every human on the planet that still has a pulse.
Attraction marketing offers a better way. Help those folks who are already searching for your solutions find you. (Yes, breathe a sigh of relief).
Attraction Marketing in a Nutshell:
Every fall my kitchen becomes a haven for attraction marketing. Of the wrong kind. How? As I pull in buckets of fresh tomatoes and plums from the garden, millions of teeny, tiny fruit flies materialize from seemingly NOWHERE. Where did they come from? How did they find me?
The simple (Marketing) answer is: In slicing up and preparing sticky, fresh fruits and vegetables, I am meeting the deepest need for thousands of fruit flies. I have what they’re already searching for. Their radar is out, looking for a solution to problems (and truly their very survival). My fresh fruit provides it.
Fruit flies need overripe fruit to survive. Not only do they eat it, but they also need it to lay eggs in (which hatch into larvae in just a couple of hours). The larvae represent another level of attraction marketing. Think of it like an enthusiastic customer telling all their friends about the solution YOU provided their problem and then delivering those friends to you with the expectation that YOU will solve ALL their problems too!
I doubt anyone is seeking to attract hordes of fruit flies, but when we attract the kinds of customers we’re seeking, we’re golden. And we do it much in the same way: We speak to their deepest needs.
Attraction Marketing Sounds Great…But HOW?
This is where we’re going to demystify attraction marketing. It’s not hard. It really basically only has four distinct parts:
- Getting really clear on who you are
- Narrowing down who you’re trying to attract (and what their biggest pain is)
- Giving those people tons of free help (mainly content that addresses their biggest needs)
- Being consistent in your efforts
Each of these parts consist of a few different components. None of it is hard. You don’t have to be the most knowledgeable person in your niche, nor the most successful in your company. You just need to pay attention, be consistent and be generous.
