Welcome to the Tuesday Tip Day post. On Tuesdays we’ll give you bite-sized information, tips and tricks on essential oils, health, business and all sorts of things. Let us know if you have a question you’d like us to answer on Tuesdays.
I’ve struggled with extreme motion sickness my whole life. I don’t even have to be the one moving to get sick (watching kids swing on a swing set or watching a home video shot with a less than stable hand, etc.). It’s a pretty good bet that any flight I’m on will require a the barf bag. Any road trip I’m in the back seat makes me sick. It’s pretty sever.
The problem with motion sickness drugs is that they are DRUGS for one and make me TIRED (or fall asleep) for another. Two things I don’t appreciate at all.
The good news is that there are essential oils that help! The list for me includes: Ginger, Peppermint and the Digestive Blend. My favorite is the Digestive Blend (which also contains both ginger and peppermint oils in it), but the others are helpful as well.
How to use it: I start by ingesting a drop or two on my tongue before I start my trip and then use them regularly there after. If I start feeling queasy, I’ll take a couple more drops on my tongue. I carry these oils with me onto the plane (just make sure they fit into your quart-sized zip bag) and keep them handy. And they work.
The best part (besides the fact that they alleviate my motion sickness) is that they are NATURAL, WHOLE FOOD solutions without synthetic drugs and with no sleepy side effects (or any other side affects for that matter). Oh, and you’re breath smells good, too.
Just remember that essential oils don’t work like drugs in that you should only take them every 4 hours or whatever the prescribed directions say. EO’s don’t stay in your system as long so you will need regular applications to be helpful. But don’t worry. It’s just food.
