I love seasonal hand soaps, but I don’t love the added chemicals that are bad for both humans and the environment. My favorite ‘healthier’ soap is Mrs. Meyers Apple scented soap. But that’s only ONE SCENT! (The other soaps in that line are too strongly scented for me.) Although it’s a great soap, I miss the seasonal changes I looked forward to back before I realized those lovely smelling soaps weren’t so lovely for me.
Recently, as I was washing my hands and smelling the sweet apple scent of Mrs. Meyers, I was hit with a thought: A few little ‘seasonings’ and I’d have a nice harvest apple pie scented soap. Perfect for the fall. And altered in just a few seconds with essential oils.
Here’s the recipe I used for Healthy Fall Soap:
1 bottle Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Liquid Hand Soap Apple — 12.5 fl oz
2 drops each of clove essential oil and ginger essential oil
5 drops each of cinnamon essential oil (cassia would work great) and an invigorating essential oil blend.
Simply open the top of the soap, drop the essential oils in, screw the top back on and shake a few times.
Wa-la! Apple pie scented soap perfect for the fall season. Mmmm. (And good for you, too) Almost good enough to eat…well, at least it smells that way!
